Ear Wax Removal Aftercare
Follow these important steps for optimal ear wax removal aftercare and ensure your comfort.
To ensure proper recovery and minimize the risk of infection following your ear wax removal procedure, please follow these guidelines:
Risk of Infection:
The ear canal may be more vulnerable to infection, especially after irrigation, as the natural protective wax has been removed.Keep Ears Dry:
Avoid getting water into the treated ear(s) for 4-5 days until the ear produces enough wax to protect the canal naturally.
Use earplugs or cotton wool coated in petroleum jelly as a seal to keep your ears dry when washing your hair, showering, bathing, or swimming.
Avoid Inserting Objects into Your Ears:
Do not insert fingers, cotton swabs, or any other objects into your ears to prevent irritation or infection.
Monitor for Symptoms:
If you experience pain, dizziness, reduced hearing, or discharge from the ear after the procedure, contact your nurse or doctor immediately.
General Care:
Allow your ears to naturally restore their protective wax barrier without interference.
If you have any concerns or questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider.
By following these steps, you can help ensure your ears remain healthy and free from complications.
